Mark Heyman's feature film directorial debut, Pendulum, is being released by Vertical in theaters nationwide on New Year's Day, January 1st, 2027. A new poster was released today. Check it out, down below. Married couple Patrick and Abigail journey to a new-age retreat in New Mexico, drawn by the possibility of healing after a traumatic event. Patrick is willing to do anything to help his wife, but becomes distrustful of the retreat’s enigmatic leader even as Abigail falls under her spell. As paranoia builds, the couple must determine if the group’s spiritual practices offer genuine healing – or mask a terrifying truth that threatens to consume them both....

A new poster for Gozilla Minus Zero has arrived. The big guy stands posed for distruction, our minds filling in the sound associated with such a stance, a massive "Skreeonk". Tickets are on sale now. IMAX early access screenings start on November 3rd. Regular screenings begin across Canada on November 6th. War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant. There is no third time. Everything ends here. "There is no third time". Funny. I think those...

On the morning of August 22, 2023, people in the Allai Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, looked up. No one could believe their eyes when they saw a cable car hanging hundreds of feet above, suspended by the last cable that was supporting it. People were terrified that, at any minute, the cable car, containing eight people, including six children on their way to school, would come smashing down. It was obvious that media outlets were recording the entire incident, which was being reported live on all television screens across Pakistan. It was the same impossible image that showed people wailing from inside, asking for help, desperate to do something that would save their lives. Something else happened on the ground, however. Someone reached for their phone,...

KL Studio Classics, the main sub-label under the Kino Lorber home video brand, doesn't get the praise the "cooler" boutique labels garner, but it's every bit as deserving. Their 4K scans and remasters maintain a high level of quality and consistency these days, and their titles run the gamut from beloved classics and past hits to hidden gems and obscure examples of cinematic weirdness. We're heading into the spooky season, so I wanted to highlight some of their recent horror-centric offerings. Some of these have gotten the 4K treatment, often with HDR and Dolby Vision, while others are just new to home video, but all of them have something to offer fans. Ships and people continue to disappear while sailing through the Bermuda Triangle, and...

Buddy will eventually wind down its theatrical run (Unless they find another version to release -- I'd vote for some kind of Gallagher splatter version but then who'd clean up afterwards?) and that means it is time to share with the movie's fans the dates when they can watch it at home, buy it on DVD and Blu-ray, AND (dah dadda daaaaah) VHS! Read below. WATCH IT AT HOME On Digital: October 13, 2026 On DVD and Blu-ray: December 8, 2026 And there’s more! Pre-Sale for the VHS edition will be available via Witter Entertainment starting on November 24 so that it can ship just in time for the holiday season! This summer, BUDDY, America’s favorite orange unicorn, emerged as...

Home Video Roundup: SUZZANNA: EMPRESS OF DARKNESS, SANGSTER DIRECTS HAMMER, More From Severin Films, Titan Books

More about Indonesian horror Suzzanna: Empress of Darkness below. But first ... In preparation for my recent Jimmy Sangster retrospective interview with Severin’s David Gregory and noted Hammer expert Marcus Hearn, Severin was kind enough to pass along links for their new Sangster Directs Hammer 4K box set. I was very impressed, but even then I had no idea how gorgeous this thing would be. The day it arrived was a happy one indeed. The hardshell clam box features gorgeous art, and each of the three films in the set gets a unique slipcover and another unique sleeve. That is a lot of art. Those looking for original poster art packaging might be a little disappointed, but I doubt it. Another major plus here is Horror!...

Pawel Pawlikowski's new film revolves around a hefty subject, conveyed with visual grace and succinct editing with beautiful, subtle performances by both Hanns Zischler and Sandra Hüller.

Vlissingen 2026 Review: ISABEL Shows Mid-Life And Hangovers

The Asylum's Street Fighters is releasing today on digital! Just thought we would share that with you fans of the tongue-in-cheek low-fi mockbusters. The world’s best martial artists fight in a world championship put on by a mysterious organization. As alliances forge and enemies emerge, they realize it’s not only the grand prize on the line, but their lives. The trailer and some stills are below. We honestly do not recall ever seeing any of the original studio films so cannot say with any authority that there was a fight with a three-story tall demon. But you have to appreciate the big swing The Asylum took with this one. Street Fighters was directed by Brian Nowak. It stars Yomade Adefeso, Diamond Marie...

Now working as a field agent for the CIA, Becky (Lulu Wilson) is sent undercover to Poland to infiltrate a family of innkeepers who are running a tourist venture at The Wolf’s Lair, Hitler’s WWII bunker. After learning that the father, Wilhelm Reuss (Neil Patrick Harris), is on a mission to bring about the Fourth Reich, Becky takes matters into her own hands. Jenn Wexler's contribution to the Becky franchise, The Last Temptation of Becky, is coming to cinemas on November 4th. Two teasers were released this week.
BEWARE BOIÚNA Review: This Giant Snake Movie Needs Way More Giant Snake

It doesn’t take much for me to completely buy into your giant snake movie. Number one, show me the snake; number two, make the snake exciting; and number three, make the movie fun. Somehow, Mike P. Nelson’s Beware Boiúna comes up short on all three counts, delivering a turgid, overly serious eco-fable about a monster boa with very little action, and even less payoff. Alli (Jessica Rothe) is an American do-gooder on a humanitarian medical trip deep into the Amazon. During the opening titles of Vincent Munier's new documentary, you watch a forest, for minutes, with trees slowly emerging from the fog, while Hildur Guðnadóttir's Fólk Fær Andlit music plays. Seen on the big screen it's a jawdropper of a shot, and a meditative moment which is a feast for your senses. Many will follow. Vincent Munier is an award-winning nature photographer and filmmaker, and for this title he spent a winter in the French Vosges mountain forests. Not alone, mind you: he brought his father (also a renowned nature photographer) and his 13-year-old son with him. The end result is this film, Whispers in the Woods, which is about love of nature, of patience, of incredible dedication for getting the right shot. In a...

Of the six new genre films that we're highlighting today, I've seen three, and of those, Dave Boyle's Never After Dark stands out. Our critic J Hurtado goes into much more detail in his review, linked below, but I'll add only that it was a pleasant surprise that quickly becomes an entirely gripping horror thriller. Don't miss the opportunity to see it in a movie theater. I enjoyed Lance Oppenheimer's sizzling drama Primetime more than our critic, Kyle Logan. The 64th edition of the New York Film Festival kicks off tonight with a screening of James Gray's crime drama Paper Tiger. We might call the film an elevated genre picture, considering the filmmaker, the stars, and, of course, its opening night selection of one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. Per the official synopsis: "Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson star in James Gray's brilliant New York thriller, charting the tragic fallout after a family man is pulled into a shady scheme with Russian criminals by his former cop brother." The biggest challenge for local residents is the relative scarcity of tickets; screenings tend to sell out very quickly. (See this page for available tickets, but act fast.) The programming...
