Fantasia 2026: INSECTASY Trailer Asks "You're Into Bugs, Right?"

A film trailer that asks two questions -- "Are you into bugs?" and "Are you a pervert?" -- is a trailer worth sharing. Angus Silver's perfectly portmanteau'd titled, Insectasy, is world premiering as part of the UNDERGROUND side-bar at Fantasia in a few weeks. This new-ish programme to the festival often foregrounds transgressive sexual pictures, but rarely as beautifully shot as this one, which seems to sit in the perfect middle ground between Peter Strickland's Duke of Burgundy, and Dario Argento's Phenomena, with just the slightest nod towards the 1970s Euro-sleaze homage and ASMR-adjacent work of Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani (Amer, The Strange Colour of Your Bodies Tears). Every August, the heat is high in South Florida, USA, but the movie theaters are very, very cool, especially with the return of the Popcorn Frights Film Festival. The 14th edition will kick off on Thursday, August 6, with Yeon Sang-ho's highly-anticipated Colony, which will be paired with a 10th anniversary screening of the director's Train to Busan in a 4K restoration. MOTELX 2026: Lisbon International Horror Film Festival Reveals First Wave of Titles

Our friends at MOTELX came in with a flash this week to announce the first wave of titles for this year's 20th edition of the Lisbon International Horror Film Festival. The first four titles in this year's festival are Fuck My Son! which premiered at TIFF last year, John Minton's Game, which was written and produced by the founder of the iconic British band Portishead, Geoff Barrow, Yusuke Iwasaki's JHorror, AnyMart, and Marion Le Corroller's debut, the French body horror film Species (Sanguine). Okay, are you ready? The final wave of titles and additional programming for the 30th Edition of Fantasia is here and it is a whopper. The opening and closing films have been announced. Nicola Winding Refn's Her Private Hell will this year and Canadian filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein will close out this year's festival with Freaks Part II, the sequel to their 2018 movie, Freaks. Guys who always want us to include their middle name's initials, Mark H.
